Sunday was a busy day for shows in Portland. I took a break from the excellent show down the road at SPACE and went to One Longfellow Square (the venue hosting the HillyTown Presents show I just announced April 23) to check out Frontier Ruckus. I had missed the MIchigan-based band’s last stop in town (almost two years ago, at the White Heart – now Nosh) but heard such great things about their performance that I wasn’t going to let that happen again. They sounded great in that room – starting with a full band setup onstage before moving closer to the audience to play the second half of their set acoustic.
