The Pixies Played The State [11.1.11]

Last night, the Pixies brought their Lost Cities tour (hitting places they’d never played before and running the entirety of their now 20+ year old album Doolittle) to the State Theatre in Portland. Opening with a selection of B-Sides before tackling the album and a few bonus hits – complete with synched video projections and a light show – the band sounds as solid as if that whole 11-year breakup never happened. All reports indicate that the Pixies fans of Portland – who had been waiting a VERY long time to see this band in their state – had a great time. Read on for some photos of The Pixies (Surfer Blood opened but we were only allowed to get photos from a few songs by the headliners) by Andrew Foster and a video of the band playing “Hey” from Shawn Saindon, as well as the remaining tour dates.
