Take this as a warning: you’ve got a busy week ahead. Hopefully you voted today and are planning to celebrate at Greendrinks in the new Power Pay offices in the former Public Market building. Tomorrow, the Phoenix hosts the Best Music Awards at Asylum at 5:30. Thursday, DJ Jonathan Toubin brings his Soul Clap dance off back to SPACE Gallery. Friday, Honey Clouds, Wesley Hartley, and Good Kids Sprouting Horns join Ohio’s Like Bells at Big Easy. Saturday, Marie Stella (full disclosure: that’s the band I play guitar in) celebrates a CD release with the first ever concert at the new Bayside Bowl.
If you’ve got any energy left, drag yourself out of bed on Sunday and head down to the Old Port for the Portland Downtown District‘s annual Old Port Festival. Read on for the full schedule, which includes some surprising bands, such as hipster buzz band Fanfarlo, former Dr. Pepper/MTV bubble boys Cartel, and ironically-named The Maine, all alongside the usual radio-friendly locals, teen bands, country bands, Irish music, and fried dough. Have fun! Read on for the full schedule…
The Old Port Festival is produced by Portland’s Downtown District (PDD). PDD is a non-profit business improvement district. It is a leader and facilitator in the support and promotion of the economic vitality of downtown Portland. PDD produces special events and marketing programs throughout the year to attract people to the downtown district. who are all these bands? Are they local? Are they the people I always see playing on the local news?
Sounds like there’s some good stuff going on… it’ll probably be crowded as all hell though.
Whoa. Fanfarlo. I am impressed.
No more blues!? Too bad. Maybe the PDD should get hip to the Naples Blues Fest and The Damarascotta Blues Fest to see what the “rest” of Maine is into.
This is the most informative page I can find right now… thank you for the info. Ill go!
