Last night, one of Portland’s premier music venues officially celebrated a milestone. One Longfellow Square has become a nonprofit organization (you can become a member here) and they celebrated with a special event to introduce their board of directors and welcome members and friends into their renovated space. Local artist (and musician) Pat Corrigan designed the new logo and hand-painted “wallpaper” in the lobby, while the interior got a splash of new color to liven up the room. For this celebration, Pai Men Miyake provided food and music during a cocktail hour was played by Bob Hamilton. OLS’s Ellie Chase, Tom Rota, and Rob Ellis gave a few words about the new nonprofit status and programs, while music was provided by Putnam Smith and a closing performance from Jonathan Edwards and Rex Fowler. Read on for photos, and check out some of their upcoming shows! Our pick for this week is Pree (Tuesday, 9/20) – the project of May Tabol (formerly of the band Le Loup) which will be releasing their debut full length next month on one of the best indie labels around, Paper Garden Records.
