Just in from the PMF, a meeting tonight regarding a report related to sound that could potentially result in a new city ordinance. Worth checking out (see the pdf linked for details), for those interested (read: club owners, etc.)
Here’s your chance to be involved in the process before it comes before the entire City Council!
Hey musicians and club owners: The Portland Public Safety Committee receives a report on noise made by musicians and DJs tonight (Tuesday, Nov. 10). They’ll use this as a basis to craft a new ordinance that will govern how clubs have to mask sound, how loud that sound can be, and how new buildings can be constructed. If you don’t want to play with a tarp over your head at all times, you need to attend and make your voice heard. It’s at 5 p.m., at Portland City Hall, in council chambers.
Go here and click on “noise report†for a pdf of what they’re considering taking recommendations from.
The PMF are also having a (members only) talk tomorrow at SPACE Gallery, focusing on home recording techniques.
