Glass Fingers (aka Jesse Gertz from South Portland) is new to me, but they could easily become a new favorite. Somehow the music spans lo-fi bedroom pop, electronic ridiculous pop, experimental synthetic sound collage, and everything in between. Not to mention a really well-done cover of Ra Ra Riot’s “Can You Tell.” This is a whole wealth of really exceptional local music that seems to have come out of nowhere – but somehow Dan Deacon found it and picked Glass Fingers to open for him at SPACE on 3/11 (along with local HillyTown favorite Computer At Sea, who Gertz also covers – the same song that we made an unofficial video for). That show is going to be insane. Get tickets in advance if you want in on the fun. In the meantime, enjoy these jams!
Obviously I had no trouble picking a favorite among all those tracks.
Jesse is the man. He was the subject of my final audio production project last year, which you can listen to here: http://soundcloud.com/dylan-martin/geek-street-podcast-episode-1-jesse-gertz
Hey Dylan – the links seems to be broken/sound file is missing. Maybe just a temporary thing? I remember back when you did that, but I think I just never got around to listening to the whole thing. I really should have!
Not to fret, Dylan and I did another one earlier today!
