Well, here’s one for all the skeptics who may have dismissed the Nateva Festival after being turned off by some of the jammier bands in the lineup: an updated band list reveals that there’s more indie rock included than previously expected (meaning that maybe the Flaming Lips as a headliner were a pretty good indicator of the general vibe of the event). Notable new bands on the roster include She & Him, Passion Pit, Grizzly Bear (I think I just heard every hipster in Portland gasp), You Can Be A Wesley, and – the only Portland bands I see on here thus far – Grand Hotel and Brenda (who are apparently getting all the festival hookups this summer – they’ll also be joining Wilco at Solid Sound in August).
How are those $200 passes sounding to you now?
ughhhh. lips, zappa and parliament made for a “i wouldnt mind going if they all played in a row” feeling, but now grizzly bear and she & him?! fuuuuuck. nateva, do the right thing and put grizz and shim as direct support to the lips and you may have another attendee in me.
oh, she & him ARE playing the 3rd, good. that leaves grizzly bear…
Brenda will be playing on the 3rd as well, and it looks like Saturday the 3rd is the “indie rock day” so to speak
OK. Put the Lips, Grizzly Bear, and George Clinton on the same day, get a few more acts, and start selling $75 day passes and they might have something here.
Gypsy Tailwind and Rustic Overtones as well.
saw the list and thought about going (for like three of the bands: P-Funk, Lips, Brenda), but 200 bucks is a bit steep.
if they end up making some day passes available and some of those bands end up all being on the 3rd I think it would get a lot of people to come out who otherwise wouldn’t even think about dropping $200 for the whole weekend!

day passes would be a great idea, I hope they do! I know a lot of people who are interested but would only go for a day (either due to finances, timing, or interest in only part of the lineup).
