On Thursday, A Robot put together a show with the theme of co-ed bands at Flask Lounge. Rio Bravo, a NH band that reminded me of Be Your Own Pet (or you could say a cross between YYYs and Gossip, but something about their sound was a bit more punk than the artier rock of either of those), started the night out admirably, considering that most of the crowd probably weren’t familiar with them. The Rattlesnakes played in the middle and spread out across the floor (having 5 members requires more room than when the band was a trio!), raising the performance bar for the night with singer Tara making use of as much floor (and couch) space as she could reach with the microphone. Finally, Dementia 5 played last, complementing their heavy garage riffage with a swirling psychedelic video, and announcing that addition of a new member on keys (not for this gig, but presumably beginning with the next one). Read on for some photos!
The next A Robot-curated show will be in June and feature garage bands.
