Awaas – a Portland supergroup of sorts with members of Ocean and Confier – recently released a video for their latest song, “Burial Ground,” which the band tells us addresses the “themes of anti-nationalism, disdain for intellectual property, and willful disobedience of the dominant music industry.” Archival footage from this year’s London Riots – notably the burning of the SonyDADC/Pias Group distribution warehouse, which crippled a number of independent labels with the destruction of their catalogs and stock – was used to create the clip.

Crippled? I’d like to see the evidence of that. I think most companies involved got an insurance payoff for their stock, much of which would have sat there unsold for years. Great video.
