Dark Dark Dark / Hersey State / Dark Urrru

Who Dark Dark Dark / Hersey State / Dark Urrru When Tuesday, March 30, 2010 8:00pm – $7 – 18+ Where SPACE Gallery (map) 538 Congress St Portland, ME, USA 04101 Other InfoDark Dark Dark with Hersey State, Dark Urrru “Dark Dark Dark’s sound draws heavily on Americana and Eastern European influences, referencing a long tradition of wandering musicians and those who have lived deeply. Their small array of age-old instruments conjures a lush musical vision of the future with banjos and accordions swimming next to haunting group vocals reminiscent of Maine’s own Fire on Fire. Knowing they recently collaborated with recent visiting gallery artists Swoon and Tod Seelie, we’re excited to show them a warm Portland welcome. Portland’s latest supergroup, Hersey State, features members of The Orchards, Tin Ceilings and the School Spirit Mafia strumming and singing together to create a uniquely Maine folk sound. Dark Urrru, featuring members of Brother Oak and Big Blood opens the night.”

Calendar at http://pub14.bravenet.com/calendar/show.php?usernum=1135125992

Check them out.

Hersey State features members of the Orchards,Tempera, and Plains. They play song-based drony orchestral-folk jamz. They like harmonies and cellos and each other. Come vibe with them.

Old Man Forest starts the show at 7 p.m. and Hersey State should wind things up (down?) by 9:30 or 10 at the latest.
This is a totally free show at the North Star, but tips are appreciated.
