Thalia Zedek Band / Coke Weed – St. Lawrence Arts Center – 06/26/15

Who Thalia Zedek Band / Coke Weed When Friday, June 26, 2015 7:00pm – $8 – All Ages Where St. Lawrence Arts Center (map) 76 Congress St Portland, ME, USA 04101 Other Info”Thalia Zedek might be entering the fourth decade of her career as one of the most singular voices in rock, but she shows no signs of creative fatigue and continues to be an integral part of the Boston music scene ever since her debut in the 90’s when she introduced her unique approach to neo-psychedelic and folk-rock.

Zedek released her first album in five years in 2013. She also reunited with Come, re-issuing their classic debut Eleven:Eleven. In October, following this intense flurry of activity, Thalia regrouped with her band in Boston to record an EP, harnessing the creative energy she had accumulated during her time on the road.

The resulting album “SIX”- is an six song album, concisely arranged and generous in sounds. “[SIX is..] a seeming back and forth between Zedek and the guitar, a conversation between voice and instrument. In an album that digs into relationships and the echoes they leave in our lives, this is the one that Six leaves us with, the one between emotion and the means to express.”- Matthew Fiander/Pop Matters

We are thrilled to have New England-based indie-psychedelic group Coke Weed start the evening off with a set previewing the quintet’s fourth LP ‘Mary Weaver’ due out Oct. 2015. The band’s longstanding love for the glam/art-rock axis, class of West Berlin, comes to the fore. The result is a panorama that encompasses Bolan’s boogie, the kraut/R&B hybrids of Bowie’s Station to Station, and the desperate romanticism of Roxy Music and Iggy Pop. ”

Coke Weed Interview

This is how the internet and music discovery works now: over the past few months we’ve noticed the words Coke Weed popping up every so often thanks to Facebook’s slightly creepy stream-of-consciousness system and our fine network of Maine musicians ranging from bedroom poppers and diy noisenicks to arena rockers. It took a minute to . . . → Read More: Coke Weed Interview
