More On Covers Vs. Originals. Now Featuring More Kurt Baker.

Well I guess I got my wish. Yesterday I posted about Geno’s Rock Club’s anti-cover policy – and mentioned that I’d be curious to hear from Kurt Baker (who is about to release an all-covers record – and today the Daily Sun has an article digging a bit deeper in which they spent a good chunk of space talking to Kurt. It sort of turned into a nice little promo op for him, in fact, why not take a look at the video promo for his release show at SPACE Gallery on August 13?

Though he won’t be playing covers, he will in fact be playing at Geno’s with his original rock band The Goodnight Process this Sunday.

OFFStage #3 Recap. See You Next Year?

Tuesday, July 27 was the third and final concert in my free, all ages early Tuesday evening summer concert series, OFFStage @SPACE Gallery, celebrating the 2nd year of this site.

Foam Castles

Thanks to the bands (Foam Castles, Old Man Forest, and Charles Burst played this one, see here and here for recaps of the first two installments), Otto Pizza, and everybody who helped make the shows happen by working door, bartending, running sound, making posters, telling a friend, etc. Special thanks to our friends at WMPG for their massive help by having the featured bands play live on the air during Liberation By Sound for the past three weeks.

Old Man Forest

Charles Burst

I won’t say we’ll revisit the exact same formula (multiple shows, on the floor at SPACE, three bands, etc.) but something will definitely happen again next year around this time. Maybe something a little bigger… until then, keep reading.

Murphy’s Law In Action: No Murphy’s Law Tonight.

Proving their namesake (“Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong”) right, apparently NYC Hardcore band Murphy’s Law (and Superpower) won’t be playing in town at Port City Music Hall tonight due to illness. Making the best of the situation, the show will go on, with locals Covered In Bees and the Pubcrawlers playing as planned, with the addition of Never Got Caught. The cover has been reduced to just $6.
