When Friday, March 9, 2012 7:00pm – $25 – All Ages Where One Longfellow Square (map) 181 State St Portland, ME, USA 04101 Other InfoSPRING FOR 317! 317 Faculty Concert to Benefit the Scholarship Fund On Friday, March 9, the stage at One Longfellow Square, 181 State Street, Portland, will come alive with the sounds of Bluegrass, Celtic, Folk, Country, and more at Spring for 317!, the annual faculty concert to benefit the 317 Main Street Community Music Center scholarship fund. The evening is made possible in part by generous sponsorship from Bath Savings, Starbird Music, and XPress Copy
The multi-talented teaching staff at 317 Main Street will present a vigorous selection of the wide variety of music styles taught at the music school including folk, bluegrass, Celtic, jazz, blues, and more. Come hear some of Maine’s best-known acoustic musicians mix it up in many different arrangements and configurations in what promises to be night of great cameraderie and boundary-pushing musicianship.
Performers will include Melissa Bragdon, Erica Brown, Ron Cody, Julie Goell, Bob Hamilton, Diana Hansen, Andy Happel, Robin Jellis, Carter Logan, Andrew Martelle, Jason Phelps, Steve Roy, Matt Shipman, Kathy Slack, Tom Whitehead, and Jed Wilson. The Portland-based bands (made up largely of 317 staff) The Jerks of Grass, and The Stowaways will perform as well.
