Thursday night at Flask Lounge was one of those fun, low-key local shows that just feels so great. A Robot has been doing a great job putting together free shows, and everything aligned to make this one in particular especially fun. It’s no secret that HillyTown loves if and it and Butcher Boy, but . . . → Read More: A Robot Presented at Flask [6.9.11]

The Pubcrawlers and The Murder Weapon at R Space, Saturday June 5th
Celtic punk band The Pubcrawlers and psychobilly band The Murder Weapon will perform at R Space at Lincoln Street Center Saturday June 5th, 6-10pm at 24 Lincoln Street in Rockland. Opening will be Rockland’s Tastes Like Chicken and the Smoking Dead Souls. All-ages and chem free, under 14 with guardian; $5 admission.
If The Pubcrawlers aren’t the perfect soundtrack to a rowdy night out (and the morning to follow) then nothing is. Whether you’re listening to them on a CD or, even better, live, their unique, high-energy, “throw-your-fist-in-the-air-and-sing-along” mix of traditional Celtic drinking tunes and melodic punk rock will have you throwing down on the dance floor whether you mean to or not! With songs of friendship & fighting, love & loss, damnation & redemption – and a few pratfalls along the way – The Pubs guarantee a rollicking, rowdy good time.
The Murder Weapon is a horror oriented “Psychobilly” band from the Midcoast that brings quite a unique presence and sound to the stage. They are a buncha dudes from their local punk scene who love making music, influenced by bands like Tiger Army, Mad Sin, Nekromantix, The Living End, Reverend Horton Heat, and Stray Cats. Murder Weapon is: Jon McLeod on guitar and lead vocals, Derek Johnson on stand-up bass and Cory Marz on the drums and back-up vocals.
Tastes Like Chicken started as an after school program, instructed by Greg Ellis and Kevin Martin, who teach at the school. Members Cole Barbour, Aaron Clarke, Jake Nagy, and Joe Njache have been playing together since October 2007. The main music styles of the band are Rock, Heavy Metal, and Blues. Also, they have recently won the Trekkapalooza (January 3rd, 2009) in Rockland.
The Smokin’ Dead Souls hail from Rockland, playing a mix of punk covers.
