Featured Albums And More Jams

You may have noticed that there’s a new featured album over on the left sidebar of the site. Portland’s premier piano-popster, Will Gattis (who did a pretty admirable job commanding and entertaining the room at SPACE the other day playing to a very young all ages crowd) , celebrates the official release of his new EP (under the simple name of Gattis), this Friday with a show at The Big Easy. Recommended for fans of artists like Ben Folds (which may be a bit too close of a comparison, but it’s gotta be said), Steve Burns, and Fluid Ounces.

Previously-featured Portland indie pop band In The Audience has an update: their new album will be delayed a bit longer than expected, so in September they will release a digital single/EP for “American Names” (which you can hear on Myspace) that will feature three cover versions of the same song by other bands. The full length album should be done some time in October.

Also this Friday, funk/hip-hop act Grant Street Orchestra is bringing their Parkside style to SPACE Gallery and throwing a big old house party. Get down to some smooth horns with their brand new track, “As Time Goes By.”
