Old Port Festival Schedule Caps Off A Busy Week

Take this as a warning: you’ve got a busy week ahead. Hopefully you voted today and are planning to celebrate at Greendrinks in the new Power Pay offices in the former Public Market building. Tomorrow, the Phoenix hosts the Best Music Awards at Asylum at 5:30. Thursday, DJ Jonathan Toubin brings his Soul Clap dance off back to SPACE Gallery. Friday, Honey Clouds, Wesley Hartley, and Good Kids Sprouting Horns join Ohio’s Like Bells at Big Easy. Saturday, Marie Stella (full disclosure: that’s the band I play guitar in) celebrates a CD release with the first ever concert at the new Bayside Bowl.

If you’ve got any energy left, drag yourself out of bed on Sunday and head down to the Old Port for the Portland Downtown District‘s annual Old Port Festival. Read on for the full schedule, which includes some surprising bands, such as hipster buzz band Fanfarlo, former Dr. Pepper/MTV bubble boys Cartel, and ironically-named The Maine, all alongside the usual radio-friendly locals, teen bands, country bands, Irish music, and fried dough. Have fun! Read on for the full schedule… Continue reading Old Port Festival Schedule Caps Off A Busy Week

Roundup! First Friday Art Walk And Everything Is Happening

First order of business: you still have about 5 hours to get your entry in for the KahBang tickets giveaway! Do it now! The contest will end and winners will be picked at about 4pm today. After that you’ll have to purchase tickets here.

In other festival news, the full Nateva schedule has been announced. The Port City Music Hall Stage looks to be the hangout spot, starting early on Thursday July 1 (before the rest of the festival) and going very late every night. For those of you looking for all that amazing indie rock happening, you’ll want to shuffle between the two main stages on Friday and Saturday to catch (in order) Magic Magic, The Felice Brothers, Passion Pit, Ghostland Observatory, Brenda, Drive-By Truckers, She & Him, Grizzly Bear, and The Flaming Lips. I might suggest capping Saturday night off (if you’re left with any energy) by partying with the excellent Toubab Krewe on the Barn Stage. Get your weekend and day passes ($89 each) here.

Now, on to tonight’s Art Walk and happenings! Most events happen between 5-8pm:

For music there’s Jakob Battick performing solo at Slainte and the interesting combination of Over A Cardboard Sea, Hessian, and Batshelter at Geno’s. Looking to dance? Hit Port City for a free party with Atomik and The Filth at 9pm!

Did I miss anything that you’re excited about? Tell everybody in the comments!

Last but not at all least, Happy Doughnut Day!
